In a gesture to encourage bright school students from Class VI to class XII who are strong in Mathematics, the government of Orissa has declared scholarships ranging from Rs 200- Rs 500. The scholarship program named after renowned astronomer Pathani Samanta Chandrasekhar will be introduced in the current academic session.
Pathani Samanta Mathematics Scholarship will be awarded to 4,000 students belonging to class VI to class VIII, 2000 students belonging to Class IX and X and 300 students studying in Class XI and XII at government aided schools and junior colleges.
A special examination will be conducted to select these students. Ten students from each block, NAC, Municipality and Municipal Corporation will be nominated for it. The selected students will be given special coaching on Mathematics subject for 45 days in a year.
The effort of the government is laudable and it will go a long way in kindling interest among the students for the subject of Mathematics.
